For over 30 years I have written a Christmas poem, (probably
more doggerel than poetry), to put on Judy and my Christmas cards, as a means
of sharing the Christmas message. I thought I might try and post a different
one every day up until Christmas to possibly help folks, in all their busyness,
to keep focused on the reason for the season.
No 1 BROKEN
I crept up to the broken door
Of the broken cattle shed,
And just across the broken floor
Saw……
His broken manger-bed.
Even the silence was broken
By a baying, neighing sound;
Even the darkness was broken
As the lamplight shone around.
Even some tears had broken
Down his weary father’s face;
Even her heart was broken
Giving birth in so foul a place.
Only one thing remained there
Unblemished, unspoilt, undefiled;
Only one thing was unbroken,
That tiny helpless child.
Yet this child, would one day be broken,
Nailed to an old broken tree;
And the one with the hammer and nails?
When I look, I am shocked, for it's me!

Amen! Every Christmas, as we celebrate Jesus' birth we are reminded of His vulnerability, which began in Bethlehem. That God was willing to come to earth in the form of a helpless little baby. We also remember that the One who was unbroken is the One who heals our brokenness. Many blessings.
WOW! ... Gosh ... that struck a chord ... Thank you for sharing!
