ADVENT IS HERE! Day 18 CHRISTMAS MYSTERY

Here, snuggled in a feeding trough


God offers us a mystery,


A gift so wonderful, sublime,


Though many look, most fail to see.

The shepherds come, yet do they know

That he will their Good Shepherd be?

That he’ll replace their Temple lambs?

God’s sacrificial Lamb is he.

The wise men bow before the child

Whose wisdom outweighs theirs by far.

Do they not know that it was he Who put in place their guiding star?

Here lays much more than meets the eye,

A sight that only hearts can see,

As Christmas comes God tries again

To show his heart to you and me.
