No
purple robe, just strips of cloth
Wrap round his precious little form,
Asleep within a cattle trough,
With only hay to keep him warm.
Wrap round his precious little form,
Asleep within a cattle trough,
With only hay to keep him warm.
No palace grand for this young king,
His
home is but a stable bare,
There
isn’t room in any inn
For
he who will his heaven share.
No bulb lit spruce or candled pine
Illumines
this nativity,
Its
brightness is God’s Light Divine,
Who
will himself hang on a tree.
So
whilst you eat and dance and sing,
Remembering
God’s gift to you,
Do
not forget his suffering,
For
this was made for sharing too.
