The 'far above average' interest in the recent SSO provision articles prompted me to share the below. And, to create both a private FB site And a SSO Blog. I recognize that there arE MAny who are more capable of initiating these projects, but until they step forward; off we go! Give me a day or two

When one considers the tremendous impact that a provision of this type could have on turning around the steady erosion to our officer ranks it boggles the mind that little is done in restructuring this initiative. I, along with many other active officers in the UKT are regular readers of your blog page, and commend you for bringing many issues to the table that the TSA refuse to confront or simply hope naively, will go away. The FSAOF has done more in the short time of its existence - 4 years(?)- to address more issues of concern to TSA than our own UKT HQ. Have they sought input from the FSAOF? Do they contact you to consult on issues? Shame on their arrogance if they don't!

Anonymous said... The pride of leadership will keep many away from this topic. What will it take , another decade for more consideration? Examples that have worked should be considered. The public at large would not even know the difference if one of the spouses was not an officer. Certainly some standards would need to be in place for this to work efficiently and in order.

My understanding is that all USA Territories do not accept this policy.I have heard of possibly one exception, but I may be thinking of an Envoy that is married and the wife has another vocation but is a Salvationist-Soldier. I recall a THQ officer in the Western Territory USA stating that both spouses must be officers.

Anonymous said... Oh how I hope and pray 'leadership' will take hold of some of these issues and address them. Single spouse is a God send to the Army, but the Army is not a God send to those of us who are single spouse at the moment. Please leaders, I urge you to look at this again in further detail and depth and make it workable for all of us and honouring to the Kingdom.

My wife, who is a DHQ officer in Liverpool, has over the last 4 years heard from many in the UKT who have returned to officership sharing with her that the care, understanding, loving fellowship and expanded vision experienced through the FSAOF is what caused them to reconsider their calling and to be re-instated. And several now active officers in the USA have shared similar stories with me privately and with our fellow members of the FSAOF via our private FB site.

Sven Ljungholm said... At the present time the USA Territories do not support the SSO provision. Yet, there are persons, active officers, who are married to 'formers' and consequently enjoy some of the benefits reserved only for active officer couples; quarters, auto, insurance benefits, etc. Although we have no concrete proof, looking at the persons enjoying this provision it's most likely a question of who the person is (family) and who they know. I was asked by the then CS if I'd consider returning to full time service about 10 years ago, while married to a non-officer…It was clear to me that TSA was prepared to provide special consideration not available to all.

Anonymous said... Some weeks ago, probably in jest, you suggest that there be a private fellowship established for SSO officer couples. Now, subsequent, to reading your several articles, perhaps you should take this idea further. I wonder if 'we' might not have a private FB site and a blog page focusing on our very unique issues, concerns and needs? Non-officer spouse.
