Frälsningsarmén. Beskedet en total överraskning
Linda Bond avgår i förtid

The Salvation Army.   The announcement a total surprise   Linda Bond resignation

After slightly more more than two years in office, General Linda Bond, made it known that she is leaving the office of the Salvation Army's senior leader with immediate effect.

The announcement that she is retiring a year before the prescribed time is a total surprise, says Commissioner Marie Willermark, leader of The Salvation Army Sweden-Latvia. “I do not need to know what the reason is, but am convinced that the decision was in union with God.

General Linda Bond turns 67 next weekend and has 44 years of service in the Salvation Army behind her.

The organization shares that there was "a time of personal reflection and prayer" behind the decision to enter retirement.

Linda Bond was elected to the Salvation Army's highest office, General, in January 2011. In this post she has given priority to creating a larger unit within the organization, which has 1.1 million soldiers and Salvationists and 26 200 officers in 124 countries worldwide.

An important direction emerged from the beginning of her leadership, the stated vision of; "One Army, One Mission and One Message," and that the priorities include an international prayer fellowship every Thursday morning”, said Marie Willermark, who says that Linda Bond in her leadership "combined the (focus on) individual and function in many decisive areas."

For example: Integrity in their own discipleship with Christ, anchoring and decisiveness in joining the Salvation Army's origin and identity with the present and future, and to always show a personal openness in meeting people whether it be the homeless woman at the Army’s institution or the Pope himself . In all, she has shown a strong sensitivity to the Holy Spirit.

The Salvation Army's Chief of the Staff at the International Headquarters, Andre’ Cox, fulfills the General's duties pending the election of a new General. It is also he who convenes the Salvation Army’S High Council to elect a new General.

It appears the press is as dumbfounded as we salvationists are! Me thinks they'll keep digging.

Have the press picked up on this? I would not be surprised to see something like Private Eye looking at it, but I have seen nothing in the main stream media.

I’m impressed, I must say. Really rarely do I encounter a blog that’s both educative and entertaining, and let me tell you, you have hit the nail on the head. Your idea is outstanding; the issue is something that not enough people are speaking intelligently about. I am very happy that I stumbled across this in my search for something relating to this.
