A Christmas Kiss?

Standing unknowingly
the mistletoe,
Lonely and friendless
Would he ever be kissed?

Kisses of greeting
On one cheek, sometimes two,
Not many greet him
Would he ever be missed?

No kiss of friendship
Nor any kiss of love,
Constant derision
Boy, was he ever dissed?

See someone kiss him
Act of love or friendship?
No it’s betrayal
And can’t be dismissed.

His arms around us
Protect our souls from harm,
Now he bids us welcome
With the kiss of peace.

Can I dare kiss him?
Would it be unworthy
If I placed a kiss
Upon the dear Christ’s feet?
