POLL RESULTS


Results of a poll conducted during a one week period in January, 2013, and represent the number of visitors on a typical week day. It is estimated that approximately 60% of the respondents have a SA affiliation.

Respondents were allowed to response on each question in all three categories. 


Homosexuals living in a same sex committed partnership ought to:

Be welcomed as members of the Body of Christ in TSA
   (85%)
Be encouraged/allowed to serve as Local Officers
   (55%)

Be encouraged to answer God's call to officership
   (61%)

Be encouraged to worship in corps recognized as GLBT 'friendly corps'
   (64%)


Practicing homosexuals, whether in a committed
relationship or not.:
Need to acknowledge that they living a sinful life style
   (60%)

Need to repent and practice a life time of celibacy
   (42%)

Should be welcomed as worshippers in TSA but not enjoy traditional membership status
   (64%)

Should not demand a change in the SA's position
   (89%)


Practicing homosexuals are "ineligible for full
membership" in The Salvation Army. However:
Active homosexuals ought to be allowed membership status

(47%)

Active homosexuals ought to be allowed adherent status only
   
(28%)

Active homosexuals ought not to be allowed officership status

 (49%)
Homosexuals ought to be allowed to marry in Church - SA Corps
   (31%)

That is interesting. Is that a poll you did on this blog? There seems some contradictory sentiments here. 85% say if Gays are living in a committed partnership they should be welcomed as members, but below, 47% say practicing gays should not be allowed membership - so the difference is if they are in committed relationships.

So, what are we to do with these results?

Kathie, some in our membership requested that the poll include additional questions which resulted in cross polling; contradictory responses from the same person. In any event, very telling responses: more liberal and inclusive than expected.

And yes, committed relationship.

What are we to do?

??? Heterosexual acting officer as in acting officer or acting heterosexual but is homosexual?
